Yolanda Fraction is a Senior Organization Development Consultant at Johns Hopkins University and recently published Joyful Workplaces, a book that explores how leaders and organizations can intentionally design environments where people and performance thrive.
Here is how Yolanda is leading beautifully in this season:
“I have often operated beyond the scope of my title. Early in my career as an elementary teacher and instructional coach, my principal asked me to facilitate a last-minute district-wide training. This moment defined what sponsorship really looks like and sharpened my definition of leaders. My manager saw potential in me before I fully recognized it myself.
Nearly twenty years later, I advise executive leaders, lead complex organizational initiatives, and support teams navigating change.
Beyond my formal role, I also serve as a Life Design Guide at Johns Hopkins University, where I mentor peers navigating career decisions and transitions. I find a lot of purpose and joy in helping people own their path instead of waiting for an opportunity to appear.
Earlier in my career, I believed the way to create impact was to hustle. That often meant staying very busy - serving on boards, volunteering in the community, and saying yes much more than saying no. As an AmeriCorps alum, service has been central to my identity.
Over two decades, I have learned that meaningful impact does not require overextension. It requires clarity, strategy, and focus. In this season, I am choosing to invest in the work that matters most and doing it exceptionally well.”
Connect with Yolanda. Her career reflects a shift from hustle-driven contribution to intentional influence grounded in strategy and purpose.
