Allaina Humphreys (she/her) is the Owner and Designer of Free Wheelin’ Design Inc., Vice President of DEIA for the Illinois National Organization for Women, Founder and Chair of Bolingbrook Pride, and so much more.

Here is how she is leading beautifully in this season:

“There was a point when I realized I was already operating far beyond the scope of ‘designer’ and functioning as a connector, strategist, and movement-builder across disability justice, LGBTQ+ advocacy, and civic engagement.

I pivoted into fully embracing that broader role by building leadership pathways alongside my design work, founding and leading community organizations, and stepping into state-level advocacy spaces.

That decision was influenced by seeing how often systems are designed without disabled people and marginalized communities at the table, and knowing I could help change that.

I’ve become more selective about where I show up and more honest about naming myself as a disabled leader and civic changemaker, not just someone who supports from behind the scenes. I’m prioritizing spaces where policy, narrative, and power intersect, and using my voice publicly in ways that connect personal story to structural change. This season is about visibility with purpose, not volume.

A relationship I cultivated over several years with Congressman Foster’s office as a disability, LGBTQ+, and voting rights advocate helped open the door to organizing a roundtable on accessibility as a civil right.

Because of the trust I’ve built through consistency and integrity, my idea for the panel was easy for their team to endorse and support. It reaffirmed that steady, values-driven advocacy creates real pathways to influence.”
