Networking can sometimes be viewed as a “dirty” word. I can completely understand why. A lot of people network incorrectly so it gives the practice a bad name! Because of this, many women shy away from networking even though they know it’s something they need to do regularly in order to grow their careers. It’s so cliché, but it’s true… your net worth is determined by your network!

Networking didn’t always come easy for me, but it’s something that I have made part of my every day routine. I’d love to help you do the same. But first, let’s clear up these misconceptions. Here are the 7 misconceptions about networking you should disregard:

  1. It's disingenuous

  2. You need to network only when you’re looking for a new job

  3. You should attend networking events in order to network

  4. It's too time consuming

  5. Networking doesn't work for introverts

  6. You should only connect with decision makers and key stakeholders

  7. Networking always has to be professional
